Rules:

Any GDAS member may register any species or strain of fish they wish.

The participant may even register multiple strains of the same species.

A good description of the strain will be needed especially if it does not

breed true.  To register, complete a Distribution / Registration Form with

the first distribution of fry.

Points are awarded for verification and distribution of ten fry to another

aquarist.  The most common methods of distribution are local auctions,

mini - auctions, flea markets or raffle donations.  Other methods of

distribution are occasionally acceptable with prior approval.  The fry do

not have to be from the same batch.  A running total will be kept until ten

is reached, then points will be awarded.

Additional fry may be distributed for points in as short a period as six

months.  Any registered species that has not earned points in two years

will be removed from the program.  The participant may wish to reregister

this species.

The participant is responsible for any permits required to keep federally

and state listed threatened or endangered fish.

There are a number of specialized tropical fish study groups that have a

species maintenance component.  Your participation in a study group does

not exclude you from the GDAS S.M.P.   You may even get GDAS S.M.P.

points for fry distributed to a study group.  The one requirement for

multiple  participation is that half of the time fry are available to GDAS

members.
