Point Scale

 

The point value of a species is determined by the first condition met

in the following lists at the time of distribution of offspring.  The

following lists provide examples of species in each of the four classes,

for species not listed, the participant should provide references for

the class determination.  The S.M.P  Committee will assist in locating

lists of extirpated, endangered, and threatened species.

 

Class 4 - Species Thought to be Extinct in

the Wild ( 20 Points )

Ambystoma mexicanum, Cynolebias boitonei

Melanotaenia eachamensis, Capoeta titteya

Skiffia francesae, Puntius nigrofasciatus

 

Class 3 - Species or Strains Considered

Threatened, Rare, or Endangered by an

Official Agency ( 15 Points )

Betta lividia, Fundulus julisia

Gymnocharacinus bergi, Haplochromis obliquidens

Melanotaenia lacustris, Percina cymatotaenia

Tilapia guinasana

USFWS

Etheostoma percnurum, Gambusia nobilis

Class 2 - Species or Strain Not Commonly

Bred ( 10 Points )

Any Characin, Any Anableps

Betta Species other than B. splendens

 

Class 1 - Commonly Bred Fish

( 5 Points )

Any fish that is easily found in local shops or mail order

catalogues.  Again, fish fall into Class 1 only if they do not

meet the requirements of any higher classes.
